Our Story Begins Here

Trying to save the World, one backpack at a time.

❊ About Us

3 Girls, 1 World started with a simple idea. During our sophomore year at Hampton University, Azariah Collins, Surayyah Hawkins, and Mayori Tyndale decided to host a Back to School Drive for families in the Philadelphia and Wilmington areas. What we thought might be a one-time effort turned into something much bigger. The response from our community showed us there was a real need, and a real appetite to help meet it.

So we kept going. Year after year, city to city, we brought the drive back, growing it each time, more families served, more community partners showing up alongside us. After three years of running the drive, we officially became a registered nonprofit in January 2026, a milestone that reflected what had already been true for years: this wasn't a one-time project, it was a mission.

Today, we're building on that foundation. What started as a single annual drive is growing into a fuller range of programming, all aimed at the same goal: removing the barriers standing between underserved communities and real college and career opportunities. We're still three girls with one idea, but that idea keeps getting bigger.
